Park Hall Students Continue with Excellent Results
The students, staff and Park Hall community are delighted with their performance in the recent post 16 examinations as on Thursday 15th August Park Hall Academy sixth formers received another excellent set of A Level Results. This was the icing on the cake for a fantastic fourth year as an Academy sponsored by Arden School.
The Average Points per Examination Entry reached 223.1 this year (13.8 points above last year’s national average of 209.3). Park Hall Principal, Tony Morrison, commented that, “These are another excellent set of results achieved by Park Hall students - which is no mean feat considering that results have been dramatically improving for the last five years. The students, staff, parents/carers and Governors should be very proud of all the skill, hard work and effort that have been dedicated to gaining these improvements.” Director of Sixth Form, Ian Cornell said, “We are really proud of our sixth form students and their achievements this year. They have been a wonderful group of students to work with and it is great to see them get the grades they deserve.”
Special achievements were made by Ben Haden who gained A grades in Business Studies and Psychology and a C grade in History, Rebecca Stewart who gained an A grade in Mathematics and B grades in Business Studies and Geography, Louise Hollingsworth who achieved an A grade in Psychology, a B grade in English and a C grade in Biology.
Another outstanding achievement was made by 10 students who each achieved the equivalent of 3 straight ‘A’ grades in their BTEC Early Years, along with another 2 students in Public Services and 2 more in Media. Special mention goes to Paige Roberts who achieved the equivalent of 3 A grades in Media and A* in Performing Arts along with Dan Maguire with the equivalent of 3 A grades in Media and an A in ICT. Altogether, over 76% of the students entered gained distinctions in their BTEC courses. Early Years Course Leader, Dr Lesley Browne said, “We are delighted by these results with every student in the group getting the highest grade possible – the students should be really proud.”
Tony Morrison, Principal added that, “Although the statistical analysis of this year’s examination results is at a very early stage, in value added terms (i.e. when comparing the final results with students’ previous learning) these results confirm our improvement over the last five years. The students, staff and parents/carers should be really pleased with this achievement and we are delighted. These results show that Park Hall is an improving school that continues to go from strength to strength.”
