A GCSE in Health and Social Care (Double Award) is a sound choice for pupils with an interest in Health and Social Care and the future employment possibilities it could offer them.
It will give pupils a background of both theory and practice within the sector and will meet their need to acquire knowledge and to understand the structures and practice within the sector as a precursor to further education and/or training.
The qualification consists of three mandatory units, each of which is equally weighted. Assessment is based on both portfolios of evidence from assignments set and assessed by the school. Pupils also have to sit an external test of 1 ½ hours, set and marked by the examination board.
