BTEC NATIONAL AWARD IN PERFORMING ARTS(Level 3)

 

Course description

An exciting but challenging course aimed at those really wanting to specialise in Performing Arts at this level and beyond. Over the duration of two years all students will focus their attention on 6 different areas of their chosen pathway (Acting/ Dance) and create performances which are delivered in a variety of ways. Written work is to be submitted throughout the course alongside the practical work but it is down to the individual learner how they present thuis: essay, presentation, blog, interview etc...

What topics will I study on The National Award in Performing Arts?

As part of the BTEC National Award you have to complete 2 core units and four specialist units which are selected by the Course Leader (varies according to individual learner needs)You have to complete all units with at least a PASS to achieve the National Award in Performing Arts.

How will I be assessed?

The BTEC National Award in Performing Arts is designed as a practical course: nonetheless there are still written elements of the course. It is 100% coursework and will involve writing log books, putting on shows, evaluating your strengths and weakness, devising plays, reconstructing theatre work etc.

For each of the 6 units you take for your course you will be assessed the Assessment Criteria specific to that unit. It breaks down exactly how you can achieve a PASS, MERIT or DISTINCTION for that unit and the tasks you have to complete are written in line with each of them.

 

Where will I be taught?

Park Hall Academy has fantastic facilities for the Performing Arts including; An Academy Theatre, 2 music class rooms, 2 music rehearsal rooms, an ensemble room, recording studio, 2 drama studios which convert into a small theatre space and a luxury dance studio with sprung floor.

Why should I study The National Award in Performing Arts and where can it take me?

It is advised that you should only really opt to take this course if you are passionate about The Performing Arts. You will need to be focussed and disciplined and prepared to be challenged. It is an extremely exciting course as it opens doorways to new areas of dance, drama and music and will springboard you into a work where all things are possible.

At the end of the two year course if you have passed ALL of the units you will achieve the equivalent of 1 x A Level in Performing Arts.

With this you could continue your studies in Higher Education with the hope to achieve a BA(Hons) Degree in Performing Arts (combined/ dance/ drama/ music), audition for Performing Arts jobs, apply for an agency to represent you, seek employment within the Performing Arts, join a TIE company and much more…. we will give you all the guidance you need!
