Welcome to the ICT Department
The ICT Department delivers ICT to every year group at Park Hall Academy. The facilities consist of purpose built air conditioned ICT suites which each have 28 machines in each room, each with a data projector and many with interactive whiteboards.

The department enjoyed its best results this year due to the hard work of both students and staff. All the students who were entered for the OCR National Course and A Levels achieved a 100% pass rate. This contributed to the overall school results.
In year 12 students are following the
OCR National Level 3 ICT course.
They have 5 hrs a week of lessons and have 3 unitsof work to complete. The evidence for this course consists of generating portfolio evidence which is internally assessed and externally moderated.

Unit 3 -Problem Solving
The current year 13 are following the
OCR Advanced GCE in ICT
OCR Advanced Subsidiary GCE in ICT H117 / OCR Advanced GCE in ICT H517. This course consists of theory (worth 60%) which is examined at the end of the course and a practical element which requires students to develop a solution for an actual end user (40% of the course). There are 5 hours of lessons per week.
Key stages 3/4
OCR National Level 2 Course
In Years 7 8, 9 and 10 all students have one hour of ICT per week. They all follow the OCR National in ICT at Level 2. The course consists of a number of units which are studied up to year 11. Each pair of 60hr and 30hr units lead to GCSE equivalent qualification at grades A* - C.
Current units being studied on the OCR National Level 2 course are:-
Unit 1 - ICT Skills for Business
this is a compulsory unit which all students must pass.By completing this unit candidates will develop the ability to create files in different software
packages, including word processing or DTP, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
They will communicate effectively using email and will search the internet efficiently for information.
Unit 23 - Creating Video
a short unit which gets students to create a short video utilising special effects, titles, soundtracks and transitions. They will develop a knowledge and understanding of how to design,
produce and test a short video clip which is fit for purpose.
Unit 2 -Webpage creation
students develop the skills to plan, design and
implement a simple website using appropriate software.
Unit 21 - Creating Computer Graphics
students develop their knowledge of different types of computer
graphics that can be used in webpages.
Important News - All Year 11 ICT students need to complete both
Unit 1 ICT Skills for Business and
Unit 23 Creating Video.

Catch up classes are held every Mon,Wed,Thur and Fri in ICT after school from 3.p.m. - students from all year groups are welcome to attend - help with homework, coursework, use of ICT facilities. |
